Andrea was my dearest only daughter, she was good, kind, thoughtful and never had a bad word to say about anyone.
She was born on February 18th 1968 to myself Kate and my late husband Neville Birch.
She was Jim's step daughter Adrian's sister, Joe and Molly's auntie and Mark's beloved partner.
We all love her dearly and miss her so much every single day.

How will heaven be?
As far as I can see
It will have huge bells
And will be situated on clouds
It will have many golden wells
That will so often swell
Rain will be abundant
And the sun will shine all day long
Angels will play on the harp
The sweetest summer song
Music that will touch the heart
While those beneath will shed drops of sorrow
Little will they know what will happen on the morrow
But to them up above
As plain and clear it will be
As far as far as I can see
Yes there will be misty alleys
And lush green meadows
Fresh with the fragrant smell of spring
Winter will never be bitter
Summer never so hot
Autumn never so bare
And resources never so scarce
Food for all will be relished by all.
Grateful we’ll be as grateful can be
Mountains high and strong and brown
Surrounding that hidden land,
Beautiful and vast seas I see
There colour as blue as sapphire can be
And the white waves lashing upon the shore
Sitting on the flattened grey rocks
Who would not call it absolutely heavenly?
However it might actually be,
But can we still not see
There will lie behind this seen
A relieving feeling of bliss
For where not have we been
But is this not by all believed
That after one’s decease
This is the land of eternal peace
Where we all ultimately reach?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANDREA

Andrea was my dearest friend for many years.
She was kind-hearted, supportive and thoughtful.
She would reassure me, understanding me and still making me laugh.
Andrea had a really good sense of humour: quick-witted, original and dry.
She was gentle and strong.

Andrea was never a "girly-girl" but experimented with make-up, clothes and extreme hair-dos. She pushed the boundaries and bravely let me cut her hair several times. We crimped, back-combed and should have bought shares in Boots for all the hairspray we used! (It was the 80's!)

Andrea's dress-sense was so unique, she was photographed by Just 17 magazine, featuring in an article about young people with individual style. She wasn't boastful about this, as many other teens would have been. Andrea was shy yet confident. Gregarious through her vulnerability.

Andrea attended my mother's wedding and kindly invited me to her family's Christmas celebrations. Everyone welcomed and included me. I was impressed that she always remained true to her character in any given circumstance. Andrea was cheeky yet respectful. I believe this showed her true integrity.

We travelled together, more than a few times, stepping out into the big, wide world and while living at Hunters Bar we took on two beautiful cats, Pig and Baloo. Even though they pooed behind her telly, Andrea continued her love for cats.

I am glad that I knew Andrea for all those years.
I remember how she embraced life, being wary yet still outgoing. How she stood up for her beliefs and the strength of her energy.

This world is a different place without you and I hope you are safely in the arms of loved ones. I sent my dog, Leo over to you on Monday. Give him a pat for me.

Thank you, Andrea, for being my friend.

Lots of love, Mary xxx

With deepest sympathy

We met Andrea only briefly, in the mid-1980’s. She and her friend Mary, our niece, came down from Sheffield to stay with my wife Jackie and myself. I suppose Andrea was in her late teens or early twenties at the time: colourful and lively, both in dress and personality. Mary often spoke of her afterwards. The departure of such a positive and sparkling character is a great tragedy.

Sometimes we can't help
but ask the reason "why?"..
when a person we love
will just suddenly die!
Our heart is emptied
and replaced with pain.
There's such a heartache
that no words can explain!

For, one day she's here...
but the next day, she's gone!
You're surrounded by love,
Yet you feel lost and alone!
Everyone has felt the sting of death...
at some point in their life!
They know it cuts into your heart...
just like a two-edged knife!

But, there's one thing
that we must all understand...
without "death", she can't walk
with God hand in hand!
And, if she could come back today...
to this cruel worldly place!
She'd tell you how great Heaven is,
as She'd wipe the tears from your face!

She'd tell you that Heaven
is such a beauty to behold;
that the paths are lined with jewels...
that she walks on streets made of gold!
She'd tell you not to cry for her...
To stop the flow of your tears!
For she now walks with Angels,
And...She'll always be near!

If I could catch a rainbow
I would do it just for you
And share with you its beauty
On the days you're feeling blue.

If I could build a mountain
You could call your very own;
A place to find serenity,
A place to be alone.

If I could take your troubles
I would toss them in the sea,
But all these things I'm finding
Are impossible for me.

I cannot build a mountain
Or catch a rainbow fair,
But let me be what I know best,
A friend who's always there
